This Little SCHOOL+HOUSE – Weather and Climate. TOPIC #1 “WHO” is the Holy Spirit. The third Person of the Trinity is often symbolized in the church as a dove, and yet we know the Holy Spirit is not literally a dove in the material sense. The Spirit is a social power of unity and diversity who proceeds from the Father and the Son as an immaterial and invisible force. He is everywhere! He is in the spiraling solar winds that extend out into the Sun’s magnetic energy field. He is in the extension of God’s right hand. He is in the spiraling weather, wind, rain and lightning. And He is in my soul who insists on being breathed forth through this process of spiration. PEACE WITH SELF is a Christian supplement to the global government education system of South Washington County Schools whose ARC Core Weather and Climate curricula marches in lockstep with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #13 Climate Action. Here, we will step back in time to the first days of creation when God spoke two great lights into being and set an entire universe in motion. Weather and climate is orderly, balanced, beautiful and under His control. With the help of the Bible, man can, if he so wishes, trace the origin of weather and climate back to the very beginning of time to discover that weather and climate has been given a ruler, and its ruler is not man. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17

Somehow, the Trinity is known to me in a way no human language can adequately express. It’s not something I acquired by studying the human language of trinitarian theology, although this historical dialogue is tremendously helpful when speaking in those circles. Inevitably, human literature and analysis that attempts to define the Godhead will always fall short. We all know this. In many ways studying the trinitarian doctrine has merely taught me the historicity of human argument within the church.
For this study on PEACE WITH SELF, I’m not necessarily interested in human argument or in the shifting science of human opinion. I am interested in the immutable declaration God speaks about Himself into the creatures of creation. Fortunately for man, we have been given the most original of PRIMARY source documents – the holy inspired Word of God – in which to understand the creation story: laws, precepts, health, science, nature, mind, body and soul. We do not have to guess WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT. We can know.

The work of the Holy Spirit is the most personal, intimate, present, and real force in the life of a believer. It is curious to me then why the Spirit is so misunderstood, even among Christian community. True, the peacemaking process involves all three Persons. True, we must know the Father and the Son before we can know the Spirit. True, the infinite Holy Spirit is a mystery to the finite mind … but I do believe the third Person of the Trinity is just as knowable a mystery as that of the Father and the Son.

Hierarchy
The function of a thing determines its proper order.
I relate to the threefold nature of God like I relate to the threefold nature of an artistic masterpiece. One of the most important aesthetic principal in all of reality is HIERARCHY. As a designer, for instance, I use scale and weight to move your eye around the page, in an intentionally organized order, from first thing to second thing to third thing (ie. Bold Heading-Colorful Visual-Fine Text).

I cannot think of a better way to illustrate the relational hierarchy of Father, Son and Holy Ghost than to begin with the creation story. In the next few examples I will attempt to combine the insight of three scholars, whose literary analysis on the doctrine of God and the Trinity blend well with the art of the Bible. Each of them lead me to think in pictures, and since the pictures are my own creative trinitarian Pentecost of power, I will carefully separate out the different authors. Please see a short Biography at the end of this article about Dorothy Sayers, John Higgins, and Jordan Cooper.

Creation Story
ON DAY 1
Let there be light
Matter is organized into line, shape, form, space, texture, value and color similar to how the artist or architect sketches his idea onto the paper blueprint (Kokaisel). First comes the structural framework of the house. God is building the first tier of His house in days 1 and 4 (Higgins).
CREATION – REDEMPTION – SANCTIFICATION
These three sketches represent the Trinity at work on the first day (Kokaisel). Though the act of creation is largely attributed to the Father (Cooper), we see clearly that all three persons of the Trinity are at work building this house on day 1 (Kokaisel). The Father is the mighty hand in the world who creates, the Son is the light of the world who redeems and the Spirit is the wise counsel of the world who sanctifies (Kokaisel interpreting Cooper). The Holy Trinity is knowable to man because it is the process of order in every creative endeavor, no matter how lowly the pattern (Kokaisel).
HOW DOES GOD SEPARATE?
SANCTIFICATION
Notice, with the addition of LIGHT comes the need to separate. Day is separated from Night as light is separated from dark. There is a line, an edge, a boundary. Separation unto God is the act of setting apart and is attributed to the work of the Holy Spirit who proceeds from the Father and the Son. Even as early as the first day, the Holy Spirit is setting apart daylight, through the process of sanctification, for His special purpose. Three days later, God organizes two separate armies, one to rule the day and one to rule the night (Kokaisel).
At the same time, we know God himself is NOT divided. Every work of creation is threefold. Every earthly trinity reflects the triune God who works as three persons in one. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit have one shared will and work in the world. We can know God’s peace more fully when we participate in the creative process – painting beautiful artwork, writing beautiful stories, building beautiful Lego houses, reading beautiful literature, playing beautiful music, etc.

But doesn’t culture tell us separation is bad? Doesn’t PBS and BLM and Don Lemon and CNN say division is bad? Doesn’t DEI and CRT and SEL and A&I and MDE say hierarchy is negative… that law and order is unkind and that a “Justice Impacted” immutable protection is the kindest law to pass?
Doesn’t culture teach the opposite of God’s Word?
Why, yes. Yes it does. And your Minnesota public school district is no different.
District #833 South Washington County Schools teaches the natural order of the universe is oppressive, and that man’s duty to his fellow man is to actively fight against natural law. I have read the 3rd grade Weather & Climate Exemplar Pack. The American Reading Company (ARC) is SoWashCo’s chosen reading curricula, and by it students learn primarily the “hazardous” impacts that weather and climate have on society and the environment. By learning the vocabulary of weather & climate – types, locations, data, patterns, causes, impacts and relief – students are more likely to identify the “injustice” and take action.
If God creates a peaceful system by separating the light unto Himself, then what does the opposite look like?
The opposite of peace is anxiety, and SoWashCo’s ARC curriculum is aiding and abetting in the perpetuation of Z’s generational anxiety. This is what happens when there are no longer lines of distinction separating hierarchy of order. Chaos ensues. But in truth, every storm system has a pattern or order. We need not fear our storms.
Disclaimer: A false moral law (curriculum in this case) does not equate to all false teaching. I want to be clear. There are many good and true teachers in this district who care very much for your children. I know a handful who make every effort to balance out the anxiety and chaos of ARC with more peaceful and orderly lessons. Not all, but some teachers recognize the imbalance ARC presents.

ON DAY 4
The greater light to rule the day
On the fourth day, God doesn’t just create the Sun, Moon and stars, He sets them apart in motion and establishes a social hierarchy (Higgins)! Great balls of light are ordained by God to be rulers over time – the Sun to rule the day and the Moon to rule the night. Time is made measurable by rotation – past & future. The Solar System is set in motion like a clock spinning counter-clockwise (Kokaisel).

The main Author of the Bible is communicating to us that He is not just bringing things into existence, but that he is organizing and separating those things in a very specific way for a very specific purpose. We see He is not just designing physical spaces to be filled, but He is organizing them socially into a hierarchy of layers, duties and moral obligations. (Higgins)

HOW DOES GOD ORGANIZE
SOCIAL STRUCTURE?
ORDER OF PROCESSION
The word “Trinity” comes from two words. It means tri unity (or three in one). There is one God in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Classical trinitarian theology says, “The oneness of God is in a shared divine essence,” The metaphysical claim is this divine essence is singular and shared between three persons. Mike Winger explains it this way: There are three “whos” and one “what”. The three persons are then defined by their relations to one another.
The Father is the source of begetting and procession.
The Son is begotten of the Father.
The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.
Do you see how one proceeds from the other? Yes, “the whole three Persons of the Trinity are consubstantial together, and co-equal,” as the Athanasian Creed observes, but there is an order among them – of origin and relation – which reveals a pattern of overwhelming peace. According to Dorothy Sayers, the Trinity is like a novel (metaphorically speaking): the Father is the Book-as-Thought, the Son is Book-as-Written, and the Holy Ghost is Book-as-Read.
There is an order here, whereby the Father is in the relational
sense PRIMARY, the Son is SECONDARY, and the Spirit is TERTIARY. Each flows into the next while working unified in mission, scope and sequence. For none can function alone or independent of the other, and all must be of like mind, will and power.

The trinitarian structure of organization is knowable at every level of social hierarchy. In the field of medicine, we first go to a primary care provider, then to a specialist, and finally to a surgeon. In the field of education, we first go to a Primary school, then to a Secondary school, and finally to a post-Secondary school.
A disorderly system is easily identified as such when it lacks the proper trinitarian order of procession. Remember the function of a thing determines its proper order.
District #833 South Washington County Schools teaches Weather and Climate by looking at severe weather systems. Robin Johnson’s Severe Weather Close-Up is the perfect example of a disproportionate and scalene trinity of power without substance. The climax hits you before the build up and lacks any kind of cool down. First, children need to be given the physical vessel so that it may be filled and animated. Johnson’s approach reminds me of a Jackson Pollock painting.
If God creates a peaceful system by way of an orderly flow, then what does the opposite look like?
The opposite of a peaceful system can move backwards, upside down or inside out. It can err on the side of too extreme (think totalitarian regime) or it can err on the side of too flat (think communist regime).

Weather & Climate
A BEAUTIFUL SYSTEM
The Earth's Climate has been given a ruler, and its ruler is not man.
The reason I begin with Genesis 1 for this study on PEACE WITH SELF, is because the elemental properties and patterns of weather and climate here on Earth have been carefully and intentionally designed by our good God. Weather and climate is orderly, balanced, beautiful and under His control. With the help of the Bible, man can, if he so wishes, trace the origin of weather and climate back to the very beginning of time to discover that weather and climate has been given a ruler, and its ruler is not man.
With the help of the Holy Spirit, man can know the origin of weather and climate. Man can know there is an order of procession in every storm just as there is an order of procession in every wave of anxiety, suffering and pain in your life. The storm is not scary, volatile, oppressive, chaotic, or out of God’s control.

“Earth’s atmosphere is divided into five main layers, differentiated by factors such as temperature, chemical composition, and air density. … Together, these layers form a protective shield that regulates Earth’s energy balance and helps sustain life. … The troposphere is the lowest layer, extending from Earth’s surface up to about 10 miles above it, and is where almost all weather phenomena occur” (NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center Conceptual Image Lab)
WHAT DOES GOD, THE FATHER OF CREATION,
HAVE TO SAY ABOUT CHANGE?

The immutability of God is just as evident in scripture as it is in creation. In Malachi 3:6 God affirms, “I the Lord do not change.” Numbers 23:19 says, “God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?” James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” God who is immutable yesterday is immutable today will not change tomorrow because He cannot deny who He is. God is faithful and just. God will do what he says. God is solid.
All the host of heaven are created celestial bodies that serve under God’s command. The law of the Lord of hosts is organized under the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night.
What does this mean for man? This means that in the first tier of creation (that is the heavenly realm) man has no dominion. The hosts of celestial bodies dictate time: days, weeks, months, years, seasons, weather and climate. Rest in this promise. God does not change. Do not carry burdens you were not meant to carry.

Dorothy L. Sayers (1893-1957) was an English poet, writer, and student of classical languages. She studied the Christian Creeds (Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian) and in 1941 wrote a Christian theological book, The Mind of the Maker, using the human creative process to explain the doctrine of the Trinity. I relate to her explanation of the Trinity in writing because it enables me to visually interpret complex dogmas like the Trinity, free will and the problem of pain. Dorothy identifies the roles of the three-in-one nature of God as the Idea (Father), the Energy/Activity (Son), and the Power/Effect on others (Spirit).

Building The Three tiered House
John Higgins describes how there are two parallel sequences happening within the seven day creation process. He says sequence one is Days 1-3, and sequence two parallels the first in days 4-6. I am fascinated by John’s insight; that God is actually communicating to the reader HOW he builds His 3-tiered house.
In order to understand the third tier, we need to know who He proceeds from. The Holy Spirit proceeds from the first and second Persons of the Trinity. For now, I have studied the first tier of this house … so that next I am prepared to know the second tier … and finally know the third tier after that.
Man is made in the image of God
As Dorothy Sayer’s angel says in The Zeal of Thy House, God “hath made man in His own image, a maker and craftsman like Himself, a little mirror of His triune majesty. For every work of creation is threefold, an earthy trinity to match the heavenly.”
I will quickly add note that Dorothy is not suggesting a univocal relation between the trinity of man and the divine. She makes that clear in Mind of The Maker, pg 22. A “mirror” metaphor means there is something about the earthly trinity that is like the divine Trinity by way of analogy. Obviously, God’s Trinity is far greater in it’s nature and intensity than man’s, but this threefold nature, high or low, is simply breathtakingly beautiful once you begin to recognize its power in your life (Kokaisel).
Make Straight Paths in 2026
The theme for 2026 is “Make Straight Paths” as a way for the believer to prepare his/her heart, soul, mind and strength for the second coming of Christ. We can know how to do this by following John the Baptist’s lead who baptized sinners in the water Jordan for the glory of God. We can trust that God will go before us to level high ground, open closed doors and cut through thick bars (Isaiah 45:2).
Moses divided the water with his staff at God’s instruction. As prophesied, John the Baptist prepared the way for the LORD at His first coming and in so doing divided the Old Testament from the New.
THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION. Lord, Forge Us With Fire As A Body Of Christ – The Church!
When you are one in Christ, your body is a temple of the living God. You are His house of prayer, His school of study, His place of assembly, and His center of military training. 1 John 4:1-4 tells us we are to learn the difference between His Spirit and the spirit of the antichrist who is now in the world. We are to test the allegiance of EVERY spirit and teach our children to do the same.
